Public Works Foreman
Job Title: Public Works Foreman
Reports to: Chief Administrative Officer
Salary: As per collective agreement
Hours of Work: Regular hours of work are Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm with a half-hour lunch break.
Location: Municipality of North Cypress (Carberry Shop)
Position Responsibilities:
Maintaining all municipal roads, vehicles and shops to ensure providing safe conditions year-round by supervising all Municipality of North Cypress-Langford public works employees:
In accordance with these responsibilities the following duties are performed:
- Supervising Public Works equipment, facilities, vehicles and personnel
- Scheduling and dispatching graders, snow plows and other work when necessary
- Coordinate all municipal equipment and personnel so as to achieve the best possible allocation of resources and maximize efficiencies
- Coordinating road conditions in conjunction with the operators to ensure that school bus routes are cleared
- Coordinate beaver control including beaver permits and license holders
- Required to work closely with Transportation/Public Works Committee
- Any other related duties assigned by the CAO
- Obtaining Tenders/Request for Proposals/Quotes as required.
- Responsible for daily work sheets/logs
Desired Qualifications:
- To be familiar with the operation of the following machinery:
- Graders/Dozers
- Service Truck
- Tractors
- Mower
- Other job-related machinery/equipment
- Efficient in emailing and communication
- Ability to prioritize and delegate works and maintain records
- Conflict resolution skills
- Make on the spot decisions
- Ability to maintain an adequate support of parts for machinery and keep a record of all inventory
- Report monthly to council at their regular meetings
Training/Education:
- Must have a Class 1 with air
- Must have a valid Manitoba Driver’s License
- Must have an education or related experience in the operation of the road maintenance equipment
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent of
- Experience in welding, surveying, signage, road inspection, waste management and trapping would be assets
