Living
Carberry has been voted as one of the friendliest towns in Canada and for good reason. It has a small town feeling with friendly, supportive people and all the amenities you need in a safe and attractive package.
You can’t beat our location along the TransCanada highway, just 30 minutes east of Brandon and 20 minutes north of the beautiful Spruce Woods Provincial Park. Our central location makes for an easy commute to other centres including Winnipeg, Portage la Prairie, Neepawa and Shilo.
Although Carberry has a small-town feeling, we have all the amenities you need. The Carberry Child Care Co-op offers licensed child care and nursery school programs and our elementary and high school are home to students from kindergarten to grade 12. The Carberry Health Centre houses a number of health services including ten acute care hospital rooms, emergency services, diagnostic services, an attached personal care home and the Carberry Clinic with two doctors and a nurse practioner onsite. Core businesses include two grocery stores, two gas stations, a hardware store, restaurants, mechanics, banking facilities and much more.
Recreational facilities and programs provide opportunities for all ages and interests. The Carberry Plains Community Centre is truly the hub of our community, and houses a hockey/skating rink, curling rink, bowling alley, outdoor pool, outdoor rink, skate park and shooting range. The town also provides a number of parks, green spaces and walking paths to explore. Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to explore and our surrounding sandhills are a unique landscape you will not find anywhere else in Manitoba. From the numerous hiking and cross country ski trails at the neighbouring Spruce Woods Provincial Park to ATV and snowmobile trails, there is something to enjoy in every season.
Carberry is also a gem for history enthusiasts with our heritage buildings, unique architecture, Carberry Museum and Gingerbread House, Seton Centre and neighbouring Camp Hughes historical site.
Newcomers have numerous housing options from building a home to your specifications in one of our new development areas, purchasing a modern or heritage home in our established neighbourhoods, numerous rental options and seniors housing ranging from independent living to assisted housing with health care services onsite.
“So many amazing people make this an incredible community to raise your kids, work and retire! I wasn’t born here but I feel just as welcomed as though I was.”
